Mechanical Industry

Mechanical industry is one of the leading industries in Zhejiang province. It made a sales income of 167.06 billion and a profit of 9.88 billion RMB in 2000, accounting for 26.8% and 28.8% respectively of the total of second industry in Zhejiang province. Zhejiang stands the fourth in the mechanical industry of China in terms of sales income of mechanical industry and third in terms of other eight major economic indicators. It leads China in such new products as air-separation equipment, industrial steam turbines, electrical dust catcher and air mechanical dust conveyor, waste heat boiler, vacuum acquisition and application equipment, boat gear boxes, basic machinery, auto, motorcycle and their parts and components. Among them, electrical dust catcher, desulfationn equipment, auto universal joints, motorcycle startup engine, boat gear box, aerial lift vehicle, heavy duty car, electric tools, wires and cables for power equipment have reached international level in the same trade.

Focus for development:

1. Auto, motorcycle and their key parts and components and ships: Heavy duty car and coach chassis, new-type medium- and top-grade cars and other vehicle for special uses, de luxe coach, household cars, motorcycles of low-emission engine and new models, key auto parts and components, auxiliary products for vehicles and sedans in particular, fork lift truck; the building and repair of export-oriented ships with excellent performance and high added values.
2. Complete mechanical plant: Complete plants for prevention and treatment of atmospheric and water pollution; complete mechanical plants for air separation, combined thermal power generation, power generation, transmission and transformation, waste heat unitization, vacuum acquisition and application and deep processing of agricultural and sideline products; complete equipment using electromechanical integration, efficient energy-saving technologies; and complete farming plants for efficient modern farming.
3. Basic mechanical parts: New-type basic parts like bearings, industrial chains, sealing members, closed type storage batteries, and hydraulic members, low-voltage electrical appliances, instruments and meters, and sensors using electro-mechanical integration technology; numerical machine tools, processing centers, centralized decentralization control system, electrical and electronic devices and intelligent products.
