Shaoxing Keqiao Economy Development Zone(KQEDZ) is located in the prosperous Shaoghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo economy belt of Yangtze Delta, Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway, 104 National Highway(Beijing-Fuzhou)and Zhedong Great Canal traverses KQEDZ. There¡¯s only 8 Kms from KQEDZ to the entrance of Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, its locality is very ovuious. Since 1998, KQEDZ has been ranking one of the first ten economy development zones through the synthetic index assess among all the Zhejiang Provincial level development zones in the successive 5years and the first provincial-level development zone passed ISO14001 environmental management system in Zhejiang Province. Shaoxing County is one of the most powerful economic counties in China and Keqiao is the county center. Around KQEDZ there concentrates about 60% economic quantity of the county. Shaoxing County possesses large scaled light textile industries and well-known China Textile City. Since the establishment in 1993, KQEDZ planned successfully set up. Kebei Industrial Park has formed a primary image. In year 2003,KQEDZ carried out Kexi Clothing Industrial Park and Kebei Clothing Industrial City, which have come into a full swing, the settled projects have developed with a fairly good tendency. Keqiao Economy Developnent Zone becomes the hot land of the investors both from home and abroad and the most important economy increasing and developing section of Shaoxing County.
In the new millennium ,KQEDZ as the advanced development zone in Zhejiang Province will concentrate on creating investment matching the international conventions and marker. In the past decade infrastructure in Shaoxing County has much improved. Now the county has 850 kilometers of highway, averaging 60 kilometers per 100 square kilometers. Public transport reaches almost all the villages in the countryside. A transport network radiates from the China Light and Textile Industry City in Keqiao. The East China Power Grid supplies 2.25 billion kwh of electricity to the county, sufficient for the use of daily life and industry. The installed capacity of telephones is 100.000 lines. Now every 100 people in Shaoxing own more than 10 telephones. The daily water supply to the urban areas is 200.000 tons.
The county pays great attention to the protection of environment. It won the title of ¡®National Advanced County for Afforestation" from the central government and the title of "The 500 Best of Global Environmental Protection" of the United Nation's Environmental Program. The constant improvement of infrastructure has created favorable conditions for a faster, healthier and sustained economic development.
