In 2005, textile industry in Zhejiang Province maintained its rapid development. Gross industrial output value created by textile enterprises above the designated scale in Zhejiang reached RMB 475.291 billion, an increase of 24.02% over the same period last year (the same hereinafter). Sales revenue created by these enterprises reached RMB 465.731 billion, an increase of 25.35%. Total amount of profits earned reached RMB 18.170 billion, an increase of 25.56%. And export delivery value created reached RMB 156.373 billion, an increase of 20.80%.

After many years of rapid development, Zhejiang has become the leading province in the manufacture, export and trading of textile products in China and the textile industry has become one of the pillar industries in Zhejiang.

　　Out of the 17 categories of textile products, Zhejiang ranks the 1st nationwide in the output of chemical fibers, cloth, printing cloth, silk and silk products.

　　Since 1999, Zhejiang’s textile and garment export has seen rapid growth year by year and its ranking has risen from the 4th to the 1st in China. Meanwhile, the ratio of its export value to that of the entire industry has kept increasing from 11.17% in 1999 to 20.93% in 2005.

　　According to incomplete statistics, Zhejiang has 293 textile and garment markets with an annual trade value of RMB 100 billion, accounting for 7% and 23% of the provincial totals respectively. Zhejiang’s professional textile marketplaces cover almost all types of textile products and thus exert a widespread and substantial influence across China. Zhejiang is increasingly becoming the logistics center of textile products in China, and its position as leading province in textile trading is becoming increasingly evident. China Light Textile City, China Cocoon and Silk Exchange and other markets play a major role in the textile industry nationwide.
