As one of the earliest provincial grade public libraries in China, the library include three parts, the main building, ancient books department on Gu Shan Road and the Jia Ye Tang Bibliotheca in Nan Xun, Hu Zhou City. The library now stores more than 4.3 million books, including 1.16 million of ancient books and 460,000 foreign books. Rebuilt in 1998,the library now locates on Shu Guang Road.
