On February 4, the symposium of directors of the Associations of Enterprises Funded by Taiwan Compatriots (AETCs) was held in Hangzhou to greet the coming Spring Festival and to talk about the development together. Feng Ming, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People¡¯s Congress and Gong Zheng, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province were present at the meeting and gave speeches as well.

It¡¯s reported at the meeting that Zhejiang Province had conscientiously implemented the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Investment of Taiwan Compatriots and actively encouraged the Taiwan compatriots to invest in Zhejiang Province, improved the investment environment, protected legitimate rights and interests of Taiwan entrepreneurs and played an important part in the economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Zhejiang and Taiwan. In the year of 2009, Taiwan-funded enterprises and people of Zhejiang faced the impact of international financial crisis together and had basically changed the crisis to be a turning point which had brought Taiwan-funded enterprises new opportunities for development. The directors of the Associations of Enterprises Funded by Taiwan Compatriots (AETCs) across Zhejiang Province and Taiwan entrepreneurs are expected to make new contributions to help maintain the healthy and steady development of Zhejiang economy and the peaceful development of cross-straits relations.

Up to last year, the whole province had accumulatively approved a total of 6929 Taiwan-funded enterprises and Taiwan-funded contracts reached 23.65 billion dollars.
