Zhejiang Provincial Health Bureau Released the Statutory Report on the Provincial Situation of Infectious Diseases in September 2008

There were reports on infectious disease cases in 90 counties (county-level cities and districts) from 0:00 September 1 to 24:00 September 30, totaling 19 infectious diseases specified by law both in Class A and Class B and 17,107 cases, including 19 deaths. There were no reports on cases of plague, human infection of highly pathogenic avian influenza, SARS, polio, anthracnose, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, diphtheria and schistosomiasis.

In September 2008 the top five infectious diseases reported were tuberculosis, syphilis, hepatitis B, bacillary and amoebic dysentery and gonorrhea, accounting for 91.31% of all the cases reported. The infectious diseases reported to have caused deaths were AIDS (7), tuberculosis (5), rabies (5), newborn baby tetanus (1) and hepatitis B (1).
