Health Bureau Released Statutory Report on Epidemics in May 2009

From 0:00 of May 1st to 24:00 of May 31st, 2009, all the 90 counties (cities, districts) across Zhejiang Province reported epidemics. There were altogether 10,938 cases of the 17 Type A and Type B epidemics, of which there were 14 deaths. There were no reports on plague, cholera, highly pathogenic avian influenza, SARS, poliomyelitis, encephalitis B, dengue fever, anthrax, leptospirosis, diphtheria and schistosomiasis.

In May 2009, the top 5 epidemics with the highest incidences were syphilis (2971 cases), tuberculosis (2434 cases), hepatitis B (2285 cases), gonorrhea (1507 cases), diarrhea (674 cases), accounting for 90.25% of the total number of incidences. The deaths resulting from the diseases are listed as follows: tuberculosis (10 cases), AIDS (3 cases) and rabies (1 case).
