Three decades after the policy of reform and opening up was adopted, Zhejiang, with its open mind and broad vision as well as support of foreign friends from all over the world, has made amazing achievements in its economy, social development and friendly interactions with other countries. Now it has become a window into China and a place of many fond memories for many foreigners.

To enhance the friendship with other peoples and to exhibit the new image of Zhejiang, a call has been issued jointly by Zhejiang Provincial People¡¯s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Zhejiang Foreign Cultural Exchange Association, and Zhejiang Daily Group for essays on ¡°Foreigners' Views and Impressions of Zhejiang¡±. Foreign friends, new and old, are expected to write down what they have seen, heard or experienced in Zhejiang in vivid languages and share with others. 
   
Requirements: There are no restrictions on the topic or genre. The essays should be no more than 1500 words long, in Chinese or any other language. (Please attach a brief introduction about the author of no more than 200 words.)

 Participants: Foreign friends who have been to Zhejiang or have worked, lived or studied in Zhejiang.

 Deadline: August 30th, 2010

 Awards for winners: The organizers will have experts judge the essays and decide on a first-prize winner, three second-prize winners, five third-prize winners and twenty Excellence Award winners. All winners will be awarded certificates, prize money, or gifts (the prize money for the first, second and third place is 2,000, 1,000, and 500 yuan respectively or gifts of the same value; Excellence Award winners will be offered gifts). The winning essays will be published in Zhejiang Daily, Qianjiang Evening, Cultural Exchange, Intouch Zhejiang, and Zhejiang Online.
