Founded in June 1959, Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only higher educational institute in Zhejiang province that specializes in training up high-level professionals of TCM. Authorized by the State Council, the University enrolled its first.

，Postgraduates in 1978, entitled to granting master's degree. It is among the earliest 8 TCM universities, approved by the former National Education Committee and National TCM Administration Bureau that can enroll students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan.

，Since March, 2000, the University has been moved to a new place located to the south of Qian Tang River in Binjiang District, Hangzhou. With a total space of 410- mu (27.33 hectare), built-up area of 110000 square meters, over 35% green-cover rate and many advanced

teaching facilities, we are proud to say that by now it is the biggest and most beautiful TCM University in China! Li Peng, chairman of the standing committee of the Chinese People's Congress, and vice-premier Li Lanqing have both visited the University and are deeply impressed by such a modern TCM University.
